Mapa and Pedro’s story is one of those that truly warms the heart. They met in Colombia, where Pedro had traveled to work in the coffee industry, and Mapa has been by his side across the globe ever since. Today they live in Switzerland, but they decided that the magnificent Quinta Valle do Riacho, in Alenquer, would be the perfect setting to unite the groom’s Lisbon roots with the warm, incredibly joyful energy of the bride’s Colombian family. A true destination wedding defined by magical contrasts.
Tears in the Hall of Arches
Mapa got ready in the stunning Hall of Arches (Salão dos Arcos), enveloped in a contagious sense of peace and serenity. However, the great burst of emotion was reserved for the moment her parents saw her ready: tears of joy streamed down both their faces, nearly ruining the makeup artist’s flawless work! We were attentive shadows, preserving the truth and rawness of these family bonds for eternity.
Complicity in the Mezzanine
In the estate’s characteristic mezzanine, Pedro got ready flanked by his closest friends. In a beautiful gesture of complicity that immediately united the two families, it was his father-in-law who gave him a helping hand with the final suit details. The atmosphere remained light, relaxed, and full of smiles—perfect for our documentary lens.
A Jacket with a Story
Late in the afternoon, the estate’s back garden hosted a touching ceremony featuring active participation from friends and family. With Mapa visibly moved and the couple ever-smiling, the big surprise (and humorous!) moment happened mid-celebration: Pedro took off his jacket to reveal a fully customized lining, printed with the most significant photos of the couple’s life, drawing admiration and loud laughter from everyone present.
Caliente Rhythms and a Golden Voice
Immediately following the ceremony, we took advantage of the guests moving to the main courtyard to create some portraits of the couple with the incredible classic car they had rented. As soon as they reached the cocktail hour, the party shifted gears: a South American band took over the atmosphere. The cherry on top was a surprise from Mapa’s mother, who joined the musicians to sing, gifting us all with an absolutely wonderful moment!
The Magic of the Golden Hour
At the end of the cocktail hour, while the guests were heading to the dinner hall, we “stole” the couple away to take advantage of the magical end-of-day light. In a fine art photoshoot defined by fantastic chemistry, we walked through the estate’s most beautiful spots, capturing the romance and fluidity of the couple before the grand banquet.
Snow in the Alps and an Unforgettable “Hora Loca”
The couple entered the reception hall in true triumph! Immediately after dinner, they cut the wedding cake, which paid tribute to their shared passion for skiing: a fantastic Alpine mountain covered in snow. After opening the dance floor with flawless choreography, Colombian energy took over the room. The night culminated in a mind-blowing “Hora Loca,” with everyone in costume. The photographic highlight was inevitable: Mapa appeared on the dance floor wearing imposing angel wings, creating a superb visual effect that brought this legacy to an epic close.
